PREREQUISITES

A working knowledge of the Macintosh operating system Mac OS X.

Class 1: Overview of Final Cut Pro Launching Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Pro’s Interface, Nonlinear Editing & Workflow Process, Working with Projects, Organizing Media Elements, Playing Clips in Viewer, Navigating Clips and Sequences, Marking Clips, Saving, Quitting and Hiding Final Cut Pro.

Class 2: Capturing, Importing and Editing a Rough Cut Creating a New Project for Capturing, Previewing and Marking Source Material, Logging Clips, Choosing Clip Settings, Choosing Capture Settings, Choosing Capturing Options, Setting Capture Preferences and Acquiring other Media such as Graphics and Audio. Logging Information in Browser, Creating Subclips, Editing a Rough Cut, 3 Point Edit, Making Overwrite and Insert edits, Managing Timeline Tracks, Adding Audio Clips, Moving Clips in the Timeline, Drag and Drop Editing, Importing Tracks from a CD.

Class 3: Editing a Fine Cut, Transitions and Filters Trimming, Ripple Edit, Dragging Clips to a New Location and Keeping Linked Clips in Sync. Viewing Transition Options, Modifying, Applying and Copying Transitions. Using the Transition Editor, Changing the Transition Parameters, Previewing and Rendering Effects. Applying and Viewing Filters, Creating a Freeze Frame, Changing Clip Size and Position, Building a Split Screen and Animating Motion Parameters.

Class 4: Final Preparation, Outputting to Tape & Digital Media Monitoring and Adjusting Audio Levels, Applying Transitions to Fade Volume, Setting Keyframe to Change Volume, Working with Video Generators, Adding a Lower Third, Creating a Title. Understanding File Formats, Exporting Quicktime Files for DVDs & the Web, Outputting to Tape and Backing Up Projects.

 

FOR THE INTENSIVE COURSE, Classes 1 & 2 are combined for Day 1 and 3 & 4 for Day 2.

Stefanie Dworkin is an Apple Certified Final Cut Pro Instructor, Editor, and Photographer. Credits include: As The World Turns; The Naked Brothers Band; My Country, My Country; Let the Sunshine In; Save Her O Save Her*; and Can You Hear Me? Stefanie is a member of the Motion Pictures Editor’s Guild and New York Women in Film and Television. She holds a masters degree in Interactive Telecommunications (ITP) from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and a bachelor’s from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
