Mike Flanagan has always had a passion for helping others. When he began more than 15 years ago, he taught people how to apply for work. This is where his research for Hollywood Jobs began.
Looking for a job is work, states Flanagan. But most people don’t approach it that way. They spend a few hours a week looking when they should consider a job search real work. Just a few years ago, people would look for jobs in newspaper classified and want ads. Today they spend time using Internet job sites and wonder why they don’t get any response.
With our unemployment high, thousands of people apply for the few jobs listed on Internet sites. Its no wonder response is slim to none.People are accustomed to working a 40 hour week, notes the author. But when it comes to looking for a job, many job seekers spend less than two hours a week in their search.
Because students had no clue on how to apply for a job, write a resume or a cover letter, Flanagan started teaching classes in How to Get a Job. The results of his students showed him he had developed a job seeking system that works. Over the years some two thousands students have found work using his tried and true system.A recent student had been unemployed for almost a year. He regularly sent out his resume, contacted recruiters and scanned the Internet for work. In less than six weeks with Hollywood Jobs, the student found a job in the high-tech field of his choice. In fact, its the best job he has ever had.
Hollywood Jobs has been called the bible for job seekers by Edwin Duterte, founder of Pink Slip Mixers, a networking group for those looking for work. The book offers a road map for those looking to find work in Hollywood or any industry, says Duterte. From networking to using the Internet, preparing for an interview and writing an engaging resume, Hollywood Jobs does this and more.
Hollywood Jobs is a systemic approach to finding the job of your dreams. The book is filled with job finding tips including: how strangers can help you find work, the most powerful job-searching tool ever invented and why asking for a job never works. With a focus on today’s economy, the book shows job applicants how to stand out from others, how to use the Internet to full advantage and how to showcase how you can help a potential employer.
In addition to writing books, Flanagan teaches classes on finding jobs and is an entrepreneur. He holds a bachelors degree from the University of Nebraska and graduated from Cornell Law School.
